After being moved from June-July 2021 in Cameroon to January 2021, AFCON2022m was originally planned to take place in the height of summer due to heat and precipitation issues. In the wake of the covid pandemic, the event was moved to January 2022. In the same vein, worries over player welfare resulting from playing in the middle of Africa’s summer caused AFCON to be moved to 2024.It important to note that it will be called AFCON 2023 because of the sponsorship deals that have to be honored
Afcon is set to end mid-February on 11th after the knock out stages that are set to start on January 27th.
May the best man win
